Alaska Animal Cruelty Law

Sec. 11.61.140 Cruelty to animals.

“(e) This section does not apply to generally accepted dog mushing or pulling contests or practices or rodeos or stock contests.”

Law classifies sled dogs as livestock

“‘Livestock’ means outdoor animals (i.e. cows, goats, horses, pigs, sled dogs, barnyard fowl, etc.) kept for the purpose of providing food, clothing, work or recreation.”
